At Independent Sands we’ve managed to produce a soil product that will enhance the growth of your plants over a prolonged period of time using a chicken manure fertiliser mix.

You will find our soil to be light weight which is easier to move and spread. It doesn’t clump in to large pieces that are hard to spread when some suppliers use a recycled green waste product for the fertiliser component.

Organic manures are a good source of nutrients…

Natural organic fertilisers contain a significantly diverse mix of nutrients and microorganisms and neutral PH levels, that combined with other minerals available in soils, become more readily available to crops and plants than would otherwise be available from commercial inorganic fertilisers.

Organic manures contain good sources or Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) and other micronutrients and trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese and sulphur as show on an indicative basis in the table below.

Chicken manure benefits……

It is recognised that chicken manure is one of the most effective and efficient natural organic animal based fertilisers available to croppers, fruit and vegetable, vineyard, grass and other horticultural growing enterprises available as a substitute for commercial inorganically produced fertilisers.

Chicken manure is a natural organic fertiliser which contains nutrients, organic matter and moisture that provide benefits to non-organic fertilisers over and above nutrient value such as:

• Improve soil physical, chemical and biological characteristics;
• Increase humus in soils which binds particles together and increases water holding
  capacity;
• The addition other organic matter and carbon to soils;
• Improved soil structure, infiltration, cation exchange, soil tilth and porosity;
• Increase crop and pasture yields as a result of improved soil structure;
• Reducing the amount of inorganic fertilisers (i.e. MAP or DAP based) utilised on crop
  production; and
• Building more resilient soil farming systems.

In addition to the nutrient values chicken manure may be superior to inorganic fertilisers in addressing issues associated with soils showing low organic matter, hard setting qualities, and low water infiltration structures – as such, as well as being rich in nutrients, chicken manure adds significant advantages as a soil enhancer.
